Okinawa Sanshin - Yushi Wood, Filled, Synthetic Skin, Semi-Vintage

This Sanshin has been fully maintained by a Sanshin workshop in Sumida Ward, so it is in good condition. It is a shorter tailpiece type, characteristic of vintage instruments, and is recommended for those looking for an old Yushi wood Sanshin.

The color variation on the back of the plectrum (2nd photo) confirms that it is solid wood.

The鳩胸 (neck end) is powerful, and the天 (head) has a clean shape, embodying the classic Makabe style.

The vintage tuning pegs, designed to resemble cow bone, and the also rare handmade胴巻き (body wrap) are made with materials and patterns not found in current mass-produced items, giving them a unique character. The neck thickness is standard, making it easy to play even for those with smaller hands.

The head shape appears to be a blend between Yonashiro style and Makabe style.

The combination of the artificial skin's resonance and the characteristics of Yushi wood creates a sound that is both taut and soft, with a balanced tone that is firm yet supple.
