Watchdog Time Co. MIL-SPEC Flight Line — CH-46 Sea Knight | c.1983
Watchdog Time Co.
The MIL-SPEC Flight Line — CH-46 Sea Knight by Watchdog Time Co. is a hand-built military aviation-inspired timepiece created to remember the Marines lost in Beirut, Lebanon, on October 23, 1983, and to honor an aircraft that became part of that history. The CH-46 Sea Knight holds a particularly solemn connection to Beirut. In the aftermath of the bombing of the Marine barracks, CH-46 helicopters were used in the recovery effort, carrying the remains of fallen servicemen from Beirut. That mission—and the Marines and aircrews who performed it—is the reason the Sea Knight was chosen for this Flight Line edition. The dial reflects the military equipment and flight-instrument character of that era. An oversized yellow 12 o’clock reference triangle anchors the design, surrounded by military-style numerals and minute markings. Olive-drab accents at 3, 6 and 9, a red center crosshair, yellow seconds hand and bold FLIGHT LINE designation give the watch the appearance of an instrument rather than a conventional dress watch. At the top of the dial, MIL-SPEC / c.1983 establishes the period being remembered. At the bottom, CH-46 SEA KNIGHT identifies the aircraft whose service became inseparably connected with that difficult day. This is not intended as a reproduction of a government-issued military watch. It is an original Watchdog Time Co. design created as a wearable remembrance of Beirut, the fallen, the Marines
